Comment on Mel's Mock Draft

Usually I leave the Cleveland comments to myself but if the Browns seriously took JJ Watt DE over Marcell Dareus DL I would have no problem getting arrested for running around naked through the deserted streets of Cleveland. Dong flopping through the wind and all. I like where your head is at Mel. Cleveland sucks!!

Updated Detroit Lions Pick #13

Who said 13 was an unlucky number?

13) Tyron Smith OT USC

...he is by far the best OT prospect in this draft so I hope the other "gurus" disagree with me on this one. I talk about VALUE all the time and here is a perfect example of getting it.  He is a much better player than Jason Smith and Trent Williams and both of those bums went top 5. Just because you have a need doesn't mean you take that player, hence the creation of the bust.  Side note Nate Solder is a BUSTah. I no longer like this prospect after his 21 reps of 225. But Tyron Smith is going to be a good player for years to come and is a perfect fit of VALUE and NEED for the Lions at pick #13.

...I hate taking offensive lineman in the first round unless they are true impact players like Joe Thomas, Jake Long, and Maurkice Pouncey.  Those are the only three *** OL I have in my rankings.  Offensive lineman are going to get beat on plays regardless so the difference between an average OL like Anthony Castonzo and a 4th rd lineman isn't much of a difference.  They key to the draft is VALUE.  I have followed the NFL draft since 1999 when I was 10 years old and every year I see mid-round and undrafted lineman outperforming 1st round pick lineman.  It just doesn't make sense unless you know you are getting a special player.  You don't just draft a player because you have a need there.  You have at least 7 picks and you can find a OL or two with some of those picks.  Every year I would probably take BPA (best player available) because I would never reach for someone just because we need that position.  We would be a better TEAM if we draft a player that we know is going to be a good player and contribute to the team as opposed to a reach who has a high probability of BUSTING.  Luckily team after team makes reaches and allow my team the Steelers to gobble up players like Rashard Mendenhall and Maurkice Pouncey when we had no business getting either player.

According to my followers, demand seems to be high and the supply I am offering has been pretty low, but don't worry we'll find an equilibrium as the combine and the true scouting of these players takes place in the upcoming months.

Steelers Keys to Victory

1) Run the ball
2) Control the clock (thus keeping A Rodg on the sidelines)
3) Play good defense
4) Get the ball to Miller
5) At least one big play to Mike Wallace
6) Protect Ben...give him time

Just the recipe they have been using for over 40 years and if they follow it they will return to Pittsburgh as Super Bowl champions.

Pick of the Day: Angela

Today we will be going with the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Green Bay Packers.  We have had the Steelers all year long in our Super Bowl poll so it would be unwise to jump ship now.  We will be going with the Steelers moneyline over the Packers today.

Pick of the Day: Steelers (+120) @ Packers.................STEELERS
